Storia e famiglia sull’Etna
La Cantina Cantoneri
Born in 1997 when Carmelo and Rosa Assennato acquired a rustic villa in Solicchiata, Cantoneri is a family estate producing authentic Etna DOC wines.

Its origin comes from “i quattru cantuneri”, the sicilian expression for the four corner stones of a building. Four brothers from the Assennato family, ancestors from Leonforte, were once called “the four Cantoneri” because they were said to be as tall as the corners of a palace.
The story began in 1997, when Carmelo and Rosa Assennato acquired a rustic villa in Solicchiata, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. It was not yet the winery it is today. It was a place to understand before being transformed.

From 2011, the project took on a clearer shape, with new plantings, massal selections and a precise idea: to restore this estate, cultivate it carefully and produce wines able to express its identity without forcing it.
Today Cantoneri is an Etna wine family estate with around 20 hectares of land, 11 of which are planted as one single vineyard body.
Each label tells a different story from the estate, from Etna Rosso DOC to Etna Bianco DOC, all the way to our Orange Wine. All Cantoneri wines can be tasted at our winery.
